The Best Advice
One of the best advice I got after finishing med school is from my family doctor. He has been treating me from birth till date. The advice that gave me a huge realisation and this is what he said
Congrats Paveetran on passing your med school or shall I say Dr.Paveetran.You may be overjoyed now and you should because it's not easy to get through but remember the real challenge starts after this. What I want to tell you is not about the stress of a doctor or the hardship. All occupation is stressful and being a doctor doesn't make you special and try asking your parents or teacher how stressful was it to make you who you are today
But always remember this, something most doctor forget or tend to ignore. You are not a game changer you are a life saver. The game is controlled by Him when He decides the game should end whatever you do for your patient will not save them. How good you get or how big of a specialist you become always bear in mind your effort is only 99% and the remaining 1% is from Him.Your part may seem big but trust me once that 1% decide otherwise your effort doesn't stand a chance but you can make the process easy for your patient and make the best for your patient and always trust in yourself
Next,no preference in your patient.Treat all of them equally no special treatment and no negligence I repeat no negligence but you will be judged on who you are for example malay patient may prefer a malay doctor like me or female patient may prefer female doctors but you should not choose, treat all equally
Lastly, throughout your life you will see all types of patient some may compliment you or thank you as a God because you saved their life or their parents life and never get carried away and keep your feet on the ground and on the other side some may humiliate you or your seniors will scold you never get dissapointed and everytime you get pushed down always remember to stand up again. All the best in your life and go make history. This is what you wanted and you achieved it today.
Thank you
