Stop Gender Discrimination

I really thought of not sharing this story but I think I should write about it and share it to create some awareness and what better day to post it if not on Mother's day.The day we embrace women
As usual I was baby sitting my twin nieces and they were playing happily and suddenly one of them tripped over a toy and fell down and the way she responded startled me.This what happen
Me : Omg be careful...let me help you...k k nothing to worry don't cry...I'm here (she was in pain so I was consoling her)
Niece 1 : I'm not crying...I'm a boy I don't feel pain
Niece 2 : Don't cry like a girl
Me : Wait what?? Who told you all this
Niece 2 : Our teacher
Niece 1 : Last time a boy in our class fell down and miss told him not to cry because boys got no pain and don't cry like girl
Me : What? Seriously? Wait both of you need some time out and some lecturing
Both : What appa?
Me : Listen...maybe your teacher said it wrongly or misinterpreted it.Listen to me boys or girls both feel pain and everyone cry.I'm 25 years old and sometimes I also cry in pain
Niece 1 : Appa cry?
Niece 2 : Pls don't cry appa (wiping my cheek)
Me : hahaha I'm not crying now but I'm trying to prove a point here.Just now you didn't cry because you are a strong girl. You are a strong girl that you don't feel pain.Okay both of you understand?
Both : Yes appa
Me : There is one thing I want both of you to remember your whole life. There is 2 types of girls in this world. The first one says "They said I can't do it" and the second one says "Watch me do it" and I want both of you to be the 2nd one.Okay...high 5 if both of you understand
Both : High 5 appa
Morale of the story gender discrimination does not only happen in school or workplace or when in adulthood but it happens even in a very young age which we tend to overlook. Stop telling your daughters they are any less than a boy and start telling your boys to respect them. Stop telling your daughters they have to be in a particular way just because they are a girl.I'm not supporting any side I just hope gender discrimination stops and yeah Happy Mother's day to all who are celebrating

Thank you
