From A Rejected Promoter To A Dream Job

Well I really don't know where to start my story but mine was not a sweet beginning like a fairy tale as it started from a rejection

I was one of the many students who left my hometown and went to Selangor to pursue my studies and I really wanted to live my life independently without depending on my dad so I set out to find myself a job to support myself since I don't want any from my father. So one of the option I had was to be a part time promoter in which it was a bit flexible compared to other restaurant or full time jobs as I was studying and my timetable was quite packed (actually really packed) so part time promoter was the only option I had

I got into all this facebook groups which posts job vacancy stuff and being an Indian guy finding a job was quite difficult as I was not preferred for the job in many places and I did not meet the requirement as I was a male and secondly I'm an Indian but that did not stop me from progressing as I was spending many hours checking and applying for jobs but none was replied

But one fine day I got a call from a guy saying he wanted to offer me a job which was being a cadbury promoter and I immediately said yes and took the job.So I went on to the briefing and got all the stuff and products needed and was super excited about my first job.Two days later I received a call from him saying I was replaced by another promoter and I have to return the products DAMN I GOT REJECTED !!!

It was kinda sad but I did got another job offer after few weeks of hard trying and applying. My first job was at "Jom Heboh" where I was a promoter and this time I got finalized and selected. This was my chance to prove myself and I did.Our target for the weekend was 200 products sold in 2 days and I hit 227 of it where the rest of the crew could not hit more then 75.This number got the event manager's attention and I got called by her to join in many other product promotion in her company.

From here my promoter life went well as I was chosen for most of their products and I was fully booked for nearly 8 consecutive weeks and I leaved happily ever after hahahahaha just kidding the story doesn't end here there is more happy ending to it.I was basically paid Rm 10 per hour and I have to work for 10-12 hours standing (risk factor for varicose veins) but it was okay as I was working for the money I earn.

Then from there I got many links in the field and I start getting alot of offers from other company and I was taking my steps carefully. Finally I choose to work with another company (its a lady boss too this time) this time my pay got higher I start earning around Rm15-20 per hour with less working hours and I did well on the promotion sales

They really liked my job and I was selected for most of their product promotions and I moved on to become the supervisor of the promotion then I start doing event coordination in the end which really changed my path from promoting. Here I start meeting alot of new peoples and new links each of them opens to an awesome experience where I get to meet many different types and character of people and I also got rejected a lot of times but since I'm used to rejection it did not bother me but it got me immuned to it.

From here I got stepped up into being a mystery shopper where I survey a few products in the market and review them. This job was a dream as I can choose when to work and my own time.If I don't feel like working I can postpone it and my pay was really good Rm 65 per hour. This job was so flexible and the pay was high too and I got into another dream job this time with a famous app Wechat.Yeap wechat wanted to open a food app so they need market surveyors to review about food and restaurant and this job was superb as I only need to take pictures and review it and as the previous job I get to choose my own working time. This is definitely a dream job for every student who is busy with classes and at the same time wanted to work part time.

When I look back from where I started with minimal pay and super long working hours the current job I had was a dream for me as my classes was pack to but unfortunately I stopped this job as my finals was near and this 3 year plus journey in working was an awesome experience and each failure and rejection made me move fast forward.Thank God I was not down and depressed with my first rejection and stayed there if I had I would miss all this good opportunity that came my way.

This shows that you should not be down whenever life let you down as you might not know what it had stored for you.So stand up and work hard your dream job might come to you maybe not now or tomorrow but sooner or later if you sincerely work hard for it as I did.

This could be your story.Thank you.
