Indian Family
Growing up in an Indian household I realised one thing.Indian parents have their own way in disciplining kids and make us listen.Let me give you an example
As a 90s kid I usually go outside to play because during my time computer games was not so cool.We were asked to play on the driveway and not on the road but if you just say that nobody listens so you have to explain to the kids why they should not play on the road
This is how a non Indian parents will explain
"Son I don't want you to play on the road because you might get hit by any car or get hurt"
"Son I don't want you to play on the road because you might get hit by any car or get hurt"
This is how my grandpa told me
"Son if you play on the road the car will hit you and you will die"
"Son if you play on the road the car will hit you and you will die"
You see what happen, he didn't even say I might get hit he was sure I will get hit by the car because there is a car waiting to hit me if I play on the road.Listening to that and growing up I was even scared to cross the road because apparently there is a car waiting to hit me if I'm on the road
Not only that let me give you a few more examples on how Indian parents came up with scary stories to make their kids listen to them
Do not cut nails in the night because it's dark you might cut your fingers so don't cut.But if you say it this way no one listens so they took it a step futher "If you cut nails at night the wealth of the house will get out and we all will suffer without money" .My grandpa took it futher and told me I have to work for food
Next, pour some water on the plate after finishing your meals because when it gets dry it's hard to wash but Indian people came up with better answer "If you let your plate dry your stomach will dry like the plate and you will have gastric problem"
When you think about it all this stories look legit because Indian people are not good in making up stories so we assume that all those stories were actually facts
Thank you
